Anyone with garden space can get involved with Urban Arks. Keeping chickens is an easy and straightforward task which involves very little effort and pays dividends.

As with anything you will learn from experience that the key to keeping chickens is organisation. They need a secure run, access to fresh water, a healthy and varied diet (organic if possible), somewhere to lay and somewhere to roost. Chickens are easy to feed because they will eat almost anything they can get a beak on, from your left over dinner to the lowly garden worm, and everything in between.

The Urban Ark provides the perfect home for 4-6 chickens. It has a spacious run and high spec nest box. The nest box access door acts as a shelf when opened for your basket, the door from the house to the run is operated by a pull cord and has an attached ramp for the chickens.

Finally, there is a back door on the ground level to provide access for feeding. The run is made from welded wire mesh which is impenetrable, even to the mink.
